'Bloody' Bush found

UW Police Department officers found a "bloody" George W. Bush statue outside William H. Gates Law School at 10 p.m. Feb. 21.

The statue, which was made from plaster, had a George W. Bush Halloween mask, a rubber brain and wore a black commencement gown.

Orange-red paint had been poured onto the gown to "simulate blood," according to a police report. The statue's brain "was to the rear of the statue for reasons unknown."

There were no notes or signs that threatened the president.

The UWPD officer removed and threw out the items collectively assembled in the statue.

Sloshed by spray paint

A UWPD officer found a man lying in the fetal position next to his bicycle and several cans of spray paint on the Burke Gilman trail at 12:36 a.m. Feb. 20.

The officer immediately smelled alcohol on the man's breath and noticed several other signs of drinking, but did not see any indications that the man had inhaled the paint.

The man informed the officer that he was 16 years of age and had drank a "40 of Old E" that he got on the Ave.

He was cited with a minor in possession.

Sleeping bag slip-up

UWPD officers were dispatched to the William H. Gates Hall at 11 p.m. Feb. 23 after two unknown men were seen carrying a sleeping bag on the building's first floor.

When officers investigated, they found the "sleeping bag" was a puffy down jacket. The pair claimed they had entered the building to attend a Bible study and were not aware that the building closed at 11 p.m.

Officers contacted the men, who identified themselves verbally. Officers explained why the pair's presence in the building constituted a criminal trespass and escorted them out. The men were not given a citation.
