Losing streak

At 2:20 a.m. on Nov. 13, the UW Police Department (UWPD) responded to two men running naked across the field in Husky Stadium.

The stadium was closed and locked down for security purposes in preparation for the football game later that same day at 12:30 p.m. The two men exited the stadium and left the area in a blue Geo Metro.

An officer in the area pulled over the identified car. When the officer approached the car he saw that the driver was wearing only his underwear. The officer told the men why they had been pulled over, and the driver responded that he and his friend thought it would be fun to run across the football field naked. They said they had gained access to the stadium by jumping the fence.

The two men were arrested for criminal trespassing.

Purse pillager

At 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 14, a burglary was reported at a private apartment in the U-District.

The resident of the apartment was sitting on her couch in the living room when she saw a man standing at a bus stop in front of her condominium move toward her kitchen window. The woman went to the kitchen to investigate. As she neared the kitchen the man dove through the open kitchen window and grabbed her purse that was sitting on the table.

The woman grabbed her purse and began to struggle over it with the man, causing her wallet to fall out of the purse. When the man was half in the residence and half out of the window and still struggling to take the purse, he said, "I have a knife, I'll cut you b****."

The man wrenched the purse out of the victim's hand. The man fled on foot and was observed running into to a concrete wall across the street, causing him to fall. He got up and limped off toward an alley.

The resident received a large bruise on her upper right arm, a small cut on her left pointer finger and a bruise to her left knee. The total loss was valued at $700 and included the woman's check card and prescription sunglasses valued at $400.

Mistaken marriage

At 3:07 p.m. on Nov. 14, a woman in Odegaard Library received a suspicious phone call.

The caller said that the woman's husband had requested the caller phone his wife to let her know he was in jail.

The woman said she didn't know the man named as her husband and was not even married. The woman was concerned the person identified only as her husband had her listed and unlisted telephone numbers. The woman felt that she must have lost her UW student ID card, but still did not know how the man would have obtained her phone numbers.

The caller informed the UWPD officer that the supposed husband had called her and asked her to call and tell his wife that he was in jail. The caller stated that the man was very agitated when he called her and that he could have given her an incorrect number.

The officer asked how the caller had obtained the unlisted phone number and she said that it was on her voicemail message. The officer feels that the man did not give the caller the correct area code.

Costly purchase

At 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 10, a woman reported that when she was checking her bank account online she noticed a charge of $115 to Larry's Market that she did not make.

The woman then checked her Visa account and found more than $2,000 had been charged for purchases she did not make. The woman still possesses the cards that were used and thought that someone was able to record the magnetic strip.

The woman had been a victim of identity theft a couple of years ago and has since cancelled her accounts and was reissued new cards, a process she will now complete for the second time.
