Two stabbings occurred within a half hour of one another at Halloween parties hosted by residential houses north of campus.

At a house party on 18th Avenue, one man was stabbed in the knee after a scuffle with an unwanted guest.

The assailant fled in a light-colored Jeep Cherokee and the suspect's identity was not known by anyone at the party.

In the second incident, an unwanted guest stabbed a man in the lower back during a brief physical altercation. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Deborah Brown, a public relations officer for the Seattle Police Department (SPD) said she believed the man stabbed in the back was treated and released.

Again, the suspects were unknown to the residents, but photos of the suspect were taken and given to police.

"Both cases are being investigated," said Brown. "There are no suspects in custody at this point and the suspects are at large."

According to Brown, Halloween is always a busy night for the SPD.

The first incident occurred on the 4700 block of 18th Avenue NE where the victim and several roommates threw a Halloween party.

During the night, one unknown male tried several times to gain access to the party and was denied. Just prior to 1 a.m., the man gained entrance to the party. One resident confronted the male and asked him to leave.

The suspect refused to leave and the victim attempted to escort him out the front door. While he was being led out, the suspect turned on the resident and began to fight with him. The victim ended up on his back when two witnesses pulled the unknown male off.

Neither the victim nor any witnesses had seen the suspect with any weapon; however, the victim received a stab wound to his right knee, leaving a 2-inch laceration. He was treated and released from the UW Medical Center.

In the second incident, SPD officers responded around 1:30 a.m. at a house on the 6500 block of 16th Avenue NE to investigate a possible stabbing.

The person who called the police stated that there was a party in progress and some unknown people showed up and crashed the party.

According to reports, the uninvited guests drank at the party for an unknown amount of time before being asked to leave.

One suspect, right before being asked to leave, asked to borrow a phone, and then gave it to the other suspect. The phone has yet to be returned and it is possible that it is still in the suspect's possession.

After the unwanted group was instructed to leave, two re-entered the house from the back door of the residence. The residents saw one of the men and asked him to leave again. At this point, the suspect got up and pulled out a knife, attempting to stab one resident, who blocked the knife with a nearby chair.

In the process of escorting the first suspect out of the house, one resident was stabbed in the back.

Witnesses reportedly saw the other man who re-entered by breaking out the glass in the front door.

Police obtained a white beanie cap and torn shirt from the suspects.

The area around the house was checked, but it gave no clues to the whereabouts or identity of the suspect. The knife was not recovered.

There is no indication that the incidents were related.
